There\u2019s definitely no need to miss out &#8211; vegetable broth is just as tasty and can also be nutrient-filled. It\u2019s also incredibly easy to make and something that you can put on to simmer at the weekend to have during the week. <\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3692\" src=\"https:\/\/healthylivinglondon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/VEgetableBroth_pan.jpg\" alt=\"Nourishing Vegetable Broth recipe\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/healthylivinglondon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/VEgetableBroth_pan.jpg 640w, https:\/\/healthylivinglondon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/VEgetableBroth_pan-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I often make this over the weekend, using whatever vegetables I\u2019ve got in the fridge but this is the recipe I most often come back to &#8211; celery is a great anti-inflammatory, as is turmeric. Carrot is a great source of beta carotene for eyesight and kale and onions are reported to help control blood sugar levels.\u00a0Garlic has good properties for staving off colds and boosting the immune system. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Best of all, broth is so versatile &#8211; you can have it hot first thing in the morning as a way to nourish your body, or add in noodles and other vegetables like peas and potato to turn it into a soup. It also works well if you\u2019re cooking risotto. This is easy on the stomach so is also suitable for those who suffer from bloating or stomach complaints. However, if you have an intolerance to alliums, such as onions or garlic then leave these out and double another ingredient such as carrots. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It also works well if you\u2019ve got bits and pieces of vegetable offcuts from a previous meal.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Nourishing Vegetable Broth Recipe<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ingredients<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1 carrot<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">4 sticks of celery<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">2 inches ginger<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">2 inches turmeric<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">6 leaves of kale<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1 onion<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">4 cloves of garlic<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Pinch Himalayan Sea Salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Black pepper<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">6 pints of water<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1 tsp coconut oil<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Method<\/span><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Heat the coconut oil over a thick-bottomed saucepan and gently fry the onion and garlic for a few minutes. <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Add in the rest of the ingredients, and heat for a few minutes before adding the salt and generous pinch of black pepper. <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Pour on the water so all ingredients are covered and bring to a simmer. <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Let simmer for at least 3 hours before straining the solids from the liquid. <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Either drink immediately or let cool before storing.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">You can keep this in the fridge for up to a week or alternatively freeze for up to a month. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bone broth is all the rage but if you\u2019re veggie or vegan, what do you do?
