A jar of pesto in everyone&#8217;s cupboard is a necessity for days when you want a quick and easy meal. However, for those who are dairy-free or want something easy, making your own pesto probably takes less time than getting to the shops and back to buy a jar. And that&#8217;s if you live next to a supermarket.<\/h5>\n<div id=\"attachment_2209\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2209\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2209\" src=\"https:\/\/healthylivinglondon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Healthy_KalePesto.jpg\" alt=\"vegan Kale pesto recipe\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/healthylivinglondon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Healthy_KalePesto.jpg 640w, https:\/\/healthylivinglondon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Healthy_KalePesto-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2209\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Served with pasta or courgetti spaghetti<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">This pesto uses kale as it quite a nice dense veg. The walnuts give it a naturally spicy taste and because of this, you don&#8217;t even realise there&#8217;s no cheese in it. This recipe uses half walnuts and half pine nuts as the pine nuts mellow it out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It&#8217;s also important to use high quality extra virgin olive oil &#8211; you&#8217;ll immediately be able to tell the difference. Extra virgin olive oil is believed to increase heart health and many people swear by a tablespoon at least a day. This is a good way to get your dose!<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"p1\">Ingredients<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">4 large handfuls of de-stalked kale<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1\/4 cup walnuts<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1\/4 cup pine nuts<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1 clove of garlic<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1\/4 cup extra virgin olive oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Pinch of salt and pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 class=\"p1\">Method<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"p1\">Blend* everything together using a handblender or something like a Nutribullet &#8211; you don&#8217;t want to turn it into soup!<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Either mix a few tablespoons into freshly cooked pasta or courgetti spaghetti, or store in a well-sealed glass jar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Let us know what you ate yours with!<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve super-savvy, you can also make a big batch of this &#8211; store it in the fridge, sealed in a jar with an extra dash of extra virgin olive oil over the top and it&#8217;ll last for several weeks at least.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">*If you&#8217;re looking for a blender but don&#8217;t want to go all out on a Nutribullet then Domu have a great range, including the <a title=\"Vonshef 3-in-1 hand blender\" href=\"http:\/\/www.domu.co.uk\/vonshef-3-in-1-hand-blender\" target=\"_blank\">Vonshef 3-in-1 handblender <\/a>which also includes an egg whisk function!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-83\" src=\"https:\/\/healthylivinglondon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/HLL_FF_5Stars-300x165.png\" alt=\"Healthy Living London health rating\" width=\"300\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/healthylivinglondon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/HLL_FF_5Stars-300x165.png 300w, https:\/\/healthylivinglondon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/HLL_FF_5Stars.png 380w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pesto is one of those great staples in life that makes a dish.
