There\u2019s three flights of stairs from our door to the lounge. That\u2019s three flights of stairs I had to navigate, carrying the big box the smarTrike Traveler<\/a>.<\/strong> Luckily, I could get my arms round the box and it was much lighter than I anticipated (around 7.5kg). Unboxing the smarTrike Traveler was my next mission – I was hoping it would be relatively easy with minimal fuss… I don’t have time to read lots of instructions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For context, the smarTrike Traveler is a convertible buggy trike. So it\u2019s suitable for infants (from 6 months) to 4 years old (or 17kg on the official website \u2013 it\u2019s up to 22kg on others). Upon opening the box, the main part of the stroller trike is folded up and comes in a bag which also has compartments for the wheels and pedals. There\u2019s definitely some parts which only require common sense to assemble, such as the easy click-in back wheels and the coloured seat lining and hood cover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it\u2019s important to get the pedal positioning right (one pedal up, one pedal down) and it\u2019s important to follow the instructions so you can build it to the stage which is right for you. There\u2019s 4 stages, but since my two year old is pretty physical, I decided we\u2019d go straight into the trike stage! The trike setting is recommended from 18months up. Attention to detail is important (not my forte) as there\u2019s a specific position the front wheel needs to be for the trike part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From taking the box upstairs to assembling, it took me 20 minutes. I believe there\u2019s a few more minor things I need to do which require the allen key (included) such as moving the seat backwards slightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to fold it up from the trike setting, it\u2019s a 3 step process of folding down the handle, and collapsing the seat (you need to click in a button and pull on the brake). If you want it to fit the handy travel bag, then you\u2019ll also need to remove the wheels. It\u2019s not as simple as some of the other buggies on the market, but then again, the other buggies aren\u2019t also trikes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My two year old isn\u2019t a big fan of the buggy but isn\u2019t quite old enough, or strong enough to walk for long periods of time. I\u2019m hoping that the smarTrike Traveler will save my arms and he\u2019ll also have lots of fun pedalling around! As an active mum of three boys (this is my youngest), this will enable us to enjoy going out on trips more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
