This raw chocolate balls recipe is the perfect replacement for shop-bought chocolate, much healthier and (we think) tastier too.<\/p>\n<p>The quality of the ingredients is important: use high quality cacao powder and dates and these will taste amazing.<\/p>\n<h5>Ingredients<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">1.5 cups dessicated coconut<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">0.5 cup agave syrup or raw honey (or maple syrup \u2013 but this doesn\u2019t make it raw)<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">0.75 cup of raw cocoa powder<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">0.25 cup of coconut oil<\/span><br \/>\n0.25 ground flaxseed<br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">0.25 cup of\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #80bf61;\" title=\"My new favourite food: Chia Seeds - where to buy\" href=\"http:\/\/www.detoxyourworld.com\/chia-seeds-3\/?a_aid=521a43b24be54\" target=\"_blank\">chia seeds<\/a><br \/>\n0.25 cup of cocoa nibs, crushed<br \/>\n1 cup of medjool dates (medjool are the best as they are extra squishy and sweet)<\/p>\n<h5>Method<\/h5>\n<ol style=\"color: #222222;\">\n<li>Line a tray with greaseproof paper.<\/li>\n<li>In a large mixing bowl, mix together the coconut, cocoa powder, flaxseed, cocoa nibs and chia seeds.<\/li>\n<li>Here&#8217;s where it gets messy: add in the agave or honey, coconut oil and medjool dates and squish together with your hands. You can do this with one hand, using the back of a spoon to scrape off the mixture that gets stuck to your hand. Or you can lick it off&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>When\u00a0it&#8217;s been thoroughly mixed, you&#8217;ll realise that there&#8217;s no way it&#8217;ll form little balls in that state so leave it in the fridge for around 15 mins. This will make it easier to roll into balls.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the mixture from the fridge and working quickly, roll into balls and place on your baking tray.<\/li>\n<li>Et voila. They&#8217;re ready to eat immediately. If you&#8217;re saving them, keep in the fridge and serve chilled.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The best thing about this recipe is that you can add whatever you want to make your own version: seeds, nuts, chopped dried fruit, vanilla essence etc.<\/p>\n<p>Let us know how yours turn out!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAIRY-FREE | GLUTEN-FREE | VEGAN Makes 20 Fancy something sweet?
